Invitation
The Directorate and the Education Office of the Nursing Service of the General Hospital of Kavala, in the Health Region of Eastern Macedonia-Thrace and the Institute for the Prevention and Treatment of Violence and the Promotion of Gender Equality "VIA -STOP", with the collaboration of the United Nations High Commissioner for Women (UN Women), in recognition of the significance of domestic and Gender-based violence, as well as and the need for the holistic management, and having developed a close and systematic cross-sectoral cooperation between the above-mentioned agencies, with regards to the handling of incidents of violence against women, but also at an educational and research level for more than 10 years, are organizing the 1st Panhellenic Conference on: "Domestic and Gender Violence", on April 25-28, 2024 in Kavala.
The conference is hosted under the auspices of the Ministries of Public Protection, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, the Hellenic Police, the Ministry of Migration and Asylum, and there are more public national and international agencies that are pending to confirm their support.
The Conference, following UN Women's approach of horizontal management of incidents of domestic violence (Essential Services), but also commitments with civil society actors as described in Generation Equality, the leading initiative in the world for the implementation of gender equality , it is hoped to cover the four thematic sections dealing with issues of Justice, Health, Police and Social Assistance. In each section, national bodies will participate, as well as those invited by international organizations (UN Women, WHO, UNODC, UNOPD), with the aim of exchanging best practices, and training the participants with workshops and focused interventions and networking the bodies of the society of citizens.
The conference will take place in Kavala Expo Centre, where civil societies, national and international agencies are invited to share best practices, to network and to record policies in the fields of domestic and gender based violence.
